My family of 5 comes to your Lakeland, Fl location several times a month. It's a wonderful option to have fun and stay within budget. We've always respected the no outside food or beverage rules and have no problem abiding to them as we want to support this theater in our community. Typically we're always satisified. Today's visit left me feeling uncomfortable. At concessions we wanted popcorn and a drink. The girl (heavyset dark haired i think with glasses) explained to us we could get a large popcorn bucket and large drink that would provide us with free refills. My husband reiterated back to her what she had said stating "So today the refills are free but next time we come it's $4 (and some cents) for popcorn?" the girl said yes. So we got the bucket and large drink. My husband finished the popcorn and went out for a refill at 8 p.m. where he was told "Sorry we've already shut down the register and we have to be able to enter in a refill - plus there's no more popcorn." He comes back into the theater and told me what happened. I went to the stand with the bucket and explained that we were told we'd get a free refill but I understand they've closed down - so what can they give me to make sure we get it since that's why we bought it. The girl says "oh actually there's no free refills it's just a refill with your drink." I said "Only the drink? I was told the popcorn." She says "Did I help you? I'm not sure if I did." And I said "i think it was you." She says "oh well, sorry." (thinking back - I don't think she is the one who sold it to us but was at the counter at the same time - this girl had naturally dark hair with blonde added and glasses) During this conversation another lady and male employee were standing maybe 2 or 3 feet from us. They listened and never responded but began talking to each other. I waited at the counter and the girl behind the counter walked away to the popcorn machine. I assume the other lady was the manager due to the fact that it appeared the male employee was asking her something. She was short statutes ale see with light hair pulled back. So I continued to wait for her to acknowledge me still standing there. No one said anything else to us. So after standing several minutes, waiting and being awkwardly ignored I took my daughter back to the movie shocked at how I was dismissed. I am personally a former corporate manager with 10 years experience and would have never allowed such an uncomfortable experience for a customer. The girl behind the counter obviously did not know what to say to me, nor did she direct me to someone who could help me. The other two employees never attempted to help or apologize. This lead me to feel taken advantage of for the purpose of an employee upselling and further more like a customer who's business isn't valued.
